Thank You So Much!

Wow, you guys! Charlotte and I are totally overwhelmed and deeply moved by the response to my last post, not only on this blog, but also on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We can't thank you enough for your kind words and well-wishes. The love and support we've received so far, will stand us in good stead in the face of future challenges. We may not be able to reply to every single comment, but please know that we've poured over each one, which in turn has left us feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

I also wanted to assure you that normal 'service' will resume again soon. I'm slowly working my way through three sewing projects and have many more in the pipeline!

What are you working on at the moment?

  2. Hi Marie, I don't know how I managed to miss your last post (I was in Spain too!) but just wanted to say how brave I think both you and Charlotte are. It must have been incredibly tough but hopefully it's brought you closer together and made you stronger. You'll have to bring Charlotte to our next meet up ;)

  3. Hurrah for the warm and fuzzy feeling! Long may it continue for you both :-)
I'm working on an Emery dress today, I don't usually make modern patterns but I love this dress and it's a great pattern for using some of my 60's fabric stash. I've got 4 Emery dresses planned and a couple of Hollyburn skirts too.
Which means I need to shop for new winter tights and shoes 😉

  4. Glad you both felt the love and support of the sewing community. You both deserve a long and loving future together!
I'm working on my first baby quilt for a friend who will be a dad for the first time in November.

  5. I'm working on a Tilly and the Buttons Mathilde blouse. Taking my time with it because there are new techniques to learn (primarily button stands and its been a long time since I set in a sleeve!)

  6. I just made a Tessuti Sydney jacket which I completely love love love (is it because it was so easy)? I am about to make Mills and Merchant Top No. 64 out of some amazing fabric I bought from a company called Feral Childe (!!!!) I'm about to be really busy so have to sneak sewing in (boo). I'm actually knitting this week, though!!!!

Someone once told me when I was getting complimented for something that I wrote: hang on to this feeling because you will need it some day. So, yes, whenever you feel that you and Charlotte have taken a wrong turn or are confused or sad or scared, come back to your amazing post and read it again!!!

  7. Hi, I'm not a blogger and reading blogs is pretty new to me (have lost my job and need new clothes). I read your recent post and just wanted to wish you and Charlotte all the best for the future. It is very brave of you both taking the step to put it out there. I had a friend who was going through the same thing and she didn't get half the support she should have done and some people said some pretty horrible things to her. Anyway, a big hug to you both. Ava xx

  9. Yey!! I'm so glad you've both had so much support. On my sewing table is a half sewn TATB Agnes top and a cut out Jennifer Lauren Vintage Bronte top. They haven't been touched since Sunday though because my house is upside down with getting a new bathroom, and then I caught a cold!

  10. I have been away from my blog and from other's for a while, which means I missed your post. After a few stress filled years myself all I can say is it's the journeys in life you never ever see yourself going on which turn out to be the most important, and if you are lucky you can come out the other side a better and happier person, which clearly is what you've both done. Looking forward to seeing your recycled projects.

  12. You deserve a long and happy life together. You've stood up in the face of some incredible challenges, and I'm so happy for you both that Charlotte is now happy in her body and you've stuck together no matter what. Best wishes to both of you, and can't wait to see what you've been working on! <3

  13. I've just discovered your blog and read your last post. Just wanted to add my best wishes and support. The partner of a friend of mine transitioned quite a few years ago and I think it's important for friends and family to realise that it is a big journey for *both* people. Practically everything in the couple dynamic becomes open to re-examination which must get exhausting sometimes. You guys sounds like you are doing really well. I wish you both much future happiness. Enjoy your sewing!

  14. Hi Marie & Charlotte, long time lurker, your sewing has been a big inspiration to me (so much so that I recently bought my first sewing machine) so I feel privileged that you have chosen to share this big part of your life with your readers. You two have such integrity, Marie, now you can share comments about your girlfriend and not have to exclude Charlotte from the blog although she is the biggest part of your life. Good luck girls.
