English Summer Time...in the Midlands!

Forgive me for sharing a non-stitching post with you today, but the stormy weather we've experienced in the Midlands in the space of a few hours has been extraordinary - so much so that it made the national news! I snapped a few pictures on my Samsung Galaxy SII and I was lucky enough to get them published on the local paper's website, which also features loads of incredible films and photos of the flash floods, gigantic hail, scary lightning and tornado (yes, a tornado in England)!

It's not your expected summer weather, but pretty spectacular, no?!?

What's it been like where you are in the UK? Were you lucky enough to get bypassed, or did you experience similar conditions?

  1. Today for the first time ever I saw lightening that was pink and purple - pretty but bizarre at the same time.

  5. South-east coast was pretty tame today ... mostly murky, really. We did have some fast change between sun one moment, misty the next, though ...

  7. it was pitch black here in Boston, followed by an HUGE downpour. Then it was gone, just like that. There was flooding locally, but we didn't have any problems, thank goodness!

  8. We had really bad weather but much earlier at about 8.00a.m I have never seen so much rain and it was so dark all my automatic lights came on.I did take several videos of the mass of water flowing down the street but as most of them involve me talking heatedly to the cat I did not put them on the blog...there is one though of the rain when the worst of the storm passed. We should count ourselves lucky as one man died near here in the storm.
    Great photo of black cloud!
