And make sure you use the right kind of stretch stitch so they don't tear when the fabric stretches. <br />Oh and if the fabric stretches out and goes wavy when you stitch it, if you can reduce the pressure of your foot it'll stop that happening - the lever to change the pressure of mine is inside the bit on the very left, where the lightbulb is.Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03205271379351276007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7593765464158159022.post-46890203481383238102011-06-13T21:39:19.887+01:002011-06-13T21:39:19.887+01:00Hi there! I have used Croft Mill jersey and it was really good quality, but be very careful if you pre-wash, as it can go out of shape on the washing line and will never recover! The fewer seams the better, and use an overlock stitch on your machine.Roobeedoohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02395340950409421904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7593765464158159022.post-55775195890169543882011-06-13T00:01:11.535+01:002011-06-13T00:01:11.535+01:00Thank you all so much for the advice, I guess jers...Thank you all so much for the advice, I guess jersey is serious business ;o) I'll defo do some research before getting stuck in! My advice is be very careful when cutting out as it stretches and moves a lot and I tend to find my pieces don't always match up that well.sorbetsurprisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03641390039457024522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7593765464158159022.post-26953851602132204332011-06-11T17:48:29.083+01:002011-06-11T17:48:29.083+01:00I loved Casey's dress, too! As I understand it you need to use one of the stretch stitches. You can sew double knit jersey on a regular machine with a regular stitch quite easily though - it's more stable than single knit so easier to work with (including cutting out). It's thicker though, obviously, so doesn't have much drape, so wouldn't be the best choice for the skirts on those patterns.Tillyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05346200271671855136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7593765464158159022.post-90277826005203394482011-06-11T10:41:10.599+01:002011-06-11T10:41:10.599+01:00These are all wonderful. Your patterns are beautiful. The last pattern I have a tip for you. Casey suggested it a while back. Interface under the buttons/buttonholes on the bodice. They have interfacing made for knits. She pasted this tip on and it made such a difference. Good luck!Vintage Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00427588530532828527noreply@blogger.com
